MAPOLY set for degree-awarding status, radio station – Rector

The Rector, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta, Prof. Oladele Itiola, has said the processes required for the institution to become a degree-awarding one have begun. He also said the campus radio station would soon go on air.

He said these last Thursday on the sideline of the 2016/2017 matriculation ceremony in which 2,850 students were admitted for full time and part time programmes in all the departments of the institution.

The matriculating students were for the Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes.

Speaking with journalists, Itiola said the institution had created an enabling environment for teaching and learning.

He said, “The governor has signed the bill elevating the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic into law.

“You have enrolled into a tertiary institution at a time our dear country is in dare need of appropriate human capital to help her out of the global economic challenges.

“We value not only your academic achievements and potentials but also look forward to the character traits, skills and competence that will make us be proud of you as mentors and parents.

“The management   will continue to create an enabling environment for quality teaching and learning through conducive lecture spaces, and 24-hour uninterrupted electricity supply.”

The Director, Students’ Affairs, Mr. Seyi Sobande, advised the students to be disciplined and seek guidance and counselling services in various departments.
